All is quiet in the waiting room at the Ft. Madison, IA Amtrak depot. The daily westbound train, the Southwest Chief, has come and gone. The only thing left to do for the lady managing the ticket counter is to sit and read books, occasionally interrupted by a passing BNSF freight train pulling in for a crew change.
